The Future of Film

CEO Rasmus Ramstad looks forward to adding a new chapter to SF's impressive history.

"The future of cinema may well be spelled 3-D," says Rasmus Ramstad, CEO of Svensk Filmindustri. During the next two years, various Hollywood companies plan to release some 30 films in 3-D. Recent and upcoming releases include Journey to the Center of the Earth with Brendan Fraser, U2's concert film, Dreamworks' Monsters vs. Aliens, Ice Age 3 and, in the autumn, James Cameron's big film Avatar.

In Pocket

Finnish publisher Tammi's classic series Gula Biblioteket celebrates their 55th anniversary with pocket-sized versions.

Gula Biblioteket is releasing pocket-sized versions of their classics first time.  They will start with ten books from different decades: Niko Kazantzaki's Zorba the Greek, Graham Greene's  The Quiet American, Alberto Moravia's Contempt, Kurt Vonnegut God Bless You, Mr.

Benjamin Down Three

Benjamin Media in Denmark discontinues publishing Cosmopolitan, Arena and FHM.

Bonnier-owned Benjamin Media will no longer publish Cosmopolitan, Arena and FHM in Denmark. The reason is a sharp decline in advertising revenues as well as sales.

Templar Talent

Kevin Waldron wins the BolognaRagazzi Opera Prima Award for Mr. Peek and the Misunderstanding at the Zoo.

Kevin Waldron's Mr Peek and the Misunderstanding at the Zoo, published by Bonnier-owned Templar Publishing, accepted the first BolognaRagazzi Opera Prima Award at the Bologna Book Fair.

The BolognaRagazzi Award is one of the most prestigious awards in children's book world. This year, there were almost 1,200 contributions from 36 countries, competing in four categories. The Opera Prima is awarded to the best debut work.

The 29-year-old author was thrilled about the win.  "This is fantastic news, I can not believe it!" Waldron said.

Prime Time

Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt highlights AdLibris's recession-resistant business.

Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, who is on tour in Sweden, visited AdLibris's warehouse in Morgongåva this week.  His visit highlights a business that is growing, despite a challenged economy.
