Saveur Gets Industry Accolade

U.S. food magazine Saveur is recognized for its increase in advertising on annual important industry Hot List from Adweek and Mediaweek. Publisher Merri Lee Kingsley credits customer orientation for the listing.

Bonnier Corporation's Saveur was included on Adweek and Mediaweek's annual Hot List recognizing those magazines with a track record of standout advertising revenue and page growth. The list cited Saveur's 12.7 percent growth in pages last year due to new advertising, a trend that continues - Saveur is up 23 percent for its May issue.

Norwegian Bestseller in the Making

The Norwegian rights to the hottest book at the Bologna Book Fair went to Cappelen Damm.

Norwegian book publisher Cappelen Damm scored a coup when it signed up the book rights for children's novel The Emerald Atlas by John Stephens, which was the talk of the recent Bologna Book Fair. Not only did Cappelen Damm secure the Norwegian rights, it managed to get them before the book fair even started.

Norwegian Costume Launches Beauty Magazine

Costume Skjønnhet is the newest sister for Norwegian fashion magazine Costume.

Bonnier Media in Norway launched a new magazine today: Costume Skjønnhet. The editor in chief for Costume, Vanessa Rudjord, who will be responsible for the new magazine as well, says it is a natural development for Costume.

Great Journalist Award in Finland Announced

Journalists honored for their achievements in print and radio.

Winners of this year's Great Journalist Award in Finland were announced at a ceremony on March 24 in Helsinki. The awards, which are sponsored by Bonnier, have been given out since 2001. The EUR 7,500 prize is given out in three categories.

New German Soccer Series for Kids

The Z-Team soccer series hopes to spark reader interest in boys - and girls.

In an age where girls are the biggest readers, children's book publisher Thienemann Verlag is making a push to get boys reading more with a new soccer series, the Z-Team. The series is written for boys - and girls - in two age groups: those 6 and up and those 8 and up. The first six books of the series were launched in early March - four for younger readers and two for older readers.

Micropayments for D.I.Y. Danish Website

Do-it-yourself magazine Gør Det Selv upgrades its website with thousands of helpful guides for subscribers and non-subscribers alike.

Bonnier Publications' do-it-yourself magazine Gør Det Selv has relaunched its website with a new micropayment system. While magazine subscribers can now download up to 25 step-by-step guides per week and store them in their personal profiles for free, non-subscribers can purchase the guides for DKK 20.

Fältman & Malmén Wins Ad Contest

Winners in Bonnier Tidskrifter's ad contest Nya Uppslag 2010 announced.

Advertising agency Fältman & Malmén won Bonnier Tidskrifter's Nya Uppslag ad competition with an ad for a Rubens and Van Dyke exhibition at Stockholm's Nationalmuseum. The ad was published in the Swedish food magazine Allt om Mat and features a photo of dough that Rubens would have been proud to paint. The prize includes SEK 500,000 in advertising space during 2010 in a Bonnier Tidskrifter title of the winner's choice.

Barcodes for a Better Reading Experience

New 2D-barcode technology sparks renewed interest in Bonnier's action-sports titles.

While most are hoping the iPad is the next big thing in publishing, 2D-barcode technology is bringing clients back to Bonnier's action-sports titles. WakeBoarding was the first to debut 2D-barcode technology on its April cover that just hit newsstands, and immediately some advertisers reversed course and made a buy, all due to the 2D experience.

The Winners Take It All

Winners of the Bonnier Sales Awards celebrate at Stockholm City Hall.

The Bonnier Sales Awards took place Friday, March 19, at Stockholm's City Hall. The ceremony kicked off with a welcome speech by Jonas Bonnier. "Why are you here?" he asked the crowd of 150 of Bonnier's top salespeople, prompting the answer through charades: "You are the best." Even through a difficult year, he said, the 11 finalists managed to not only meet their goals, but often exceed them.

Bonnier Sales Awards Announced

The Bonnier Sales Awards 2009 winners were announced today at a gala dinner and awards ceremony at Stockholm City Hall. Some 150 guests from around the world attended to see which of the 11 finalists would be chosen.
