MTV Wins Key Media Rights

MTV3 to broadcast IIHF World Hockey Championship for 2012-2017, a key program in hockey-loving Finland.

MTV Oy has entered into an agreement with international sports marketing agency Infront Sports & Media AG (Zug, Switzerland) concerning the media rights for the men's IIHF World Championships in ice hockey from 2012 to 2017. Two tournaments will be partly played in Finland during this period.

Swedish Vi Föräldrar takes a page from Babytalk with a new baby cover contest.

To have your baby on the cover of  Swedish parenting magazine Vi Föräldrar is the dream of many Vi Föräldrar readers. And now they will finally have a chance: Due to strong demand, Vi Föräldrar will be launching a cover contest. The contest opened on April 19 and entries can be sent in until May 30. After that, visitors to the site will be able to vote on the photos and the five babies with the most votes will be featured in a "fashion" spread in the magazine.

World Sports & Marketing adds an active ingredient for readers wanting more.

Bonnier Corp.'s sports marketing division is kicking off its 22nd year May 1-2 with its first event of the season. World Sports & Marketing has produced more than 350 televised sporting events so far, including professional wakeboard competitions, the Pro Water Ski Tour, the ESPN X Games and Formula 1 Powerboat Racing. New this year, the group is adding running events.

Nine of the most famous photographers and illustrators from Swedish mama magazine will be auctioning off artwork to benefit Unicef. The works were shown at an opening at Bonnier Konsthall on April 12 and published in the May issue of mama with the bidding at online auction site Tradera.se. You can see the works here. Bidding will close May 13.

Recipes on Your Cell Phone

New cell-phone website gives users access to 17,000 recipes - and coupons to buy the ingredients at the grocery store.

Sweden's popular food website Recept.nu, which was launched in Nov. 2007 by afternoon daily Expressen and TV4 Group, has been one of the country's biggest food sites since last year, with some 340,00 unique visitors weekly.

Science Illustrated to Launch in Germany

German readers will soon be able to read their own version of Science Illustrated, now appearing in 13 different editions worldwide.

The latest magazine to launch after being licensed from Bonnier International Magazines, Science Illustrated will hit the newsstands in Germany on May 5. The magazine is published under license by Family Media, who published a test issue of the magazine in September 2009. The new edition will bring up the total number of editions of Science Illustrated to 13 and the total countries where it is distributed to 17, with Austria and Switzerland.

Swedish Debut Novel Destined to be Blockbuster

International rights to Swedish reporter Jan Wallentin's upcoming debut novel, Strindberg's Star, have been sold in 12 countries before it has even come out in Sweden.

Strindberg's Star, the debut novel of Swedish reporter Jan Wallentin is set to be a big success in Sweden - and internationally. The foreign rights in 12 countries have already been sold, and Wallentin is being compared to Dan Brown of The Da Vinci Code fame.

The plot involves the discovery of a map showing the way deep into the earth and the adventures that ensue as characters find out about the discovery. Although still in the final stages of being polished and fact-checked, the novel has already garnered a huge amount of attention.

Mama to Be First Swedish Magazine on the iPad

Bonnier Tidskrifter's magazine for mothers will be the first available in Sweden on the Mag+ platform.

Popular Science was the first Bonnier magazine released on the digital Mag+ platform when the iPad was launched in the U.S.
