"For Bonnier, 2011 was a year of big investments in restructuring and adapting to a digital environment, as well as investments in positioning and content within the Broadcasting business area," says CEO Jonas Bonnier. "Together with a decline in the global advertising market during the fall, these were major contributing factors to lower profitability compared to 2010.

What's happening, Jonas Bonnier?

At the start of 2012, we will be getting rid of the business areas, which means the current division into types of media will disappear. Instead, Bonnier will consist of 20 company groups that report directly to the headquarters without middle layers and business area heads. Furthermore, five new people will be joining the executive management team.

Bonnier AB 2009: Tough year with positive surprises

The total sales for Bonnier AB increased in 2009 by 4 percent compared with the previous year, totaling SEK 30.8 billion. Growth occurred primarily in the business areas Bonnier Broadcasting & Evening Paper, Bonnier Books and Bonnier Entertainment.

Green Power

Bonnier will power its printing plants in Stockholm, Malmö and Borås with low-emission electricity.

Bonnier has signed a contract with Vattenfall's environmentally sound VattenEl EPD through 2011. VattenEl EPD will provide electricity to Bonnier's real estate and printing plants (Bold Printing Group) Stockholm, Malmö and Borås.  
 
"Our agreement not only provides savings in money, but also helps the environment," commented Bengt Wall, purchasing manager for Bonnier AB.
