Bonnier Corp. Wins Big at Digital Awards

Bonnier Corporation's Popular Science, Parenting and Field & Stream best of the web according to Min.

Bonnier Corporation took home six awards at Media Industry Newsletter's (Min) "Best of the Web" Awards ceremony today. The annual awards recognize digital excellence and honor magazine brands that "did not merely react to changing technology, but drove innovation."

R&D Joins Forces with Bonnier Digital

Bonnier R&D's merger with Bonnier Digital looks to a powerful digital media future.

Bonnier R&D under the leadership of Sara Öhrvall will be merging with Bonnier Digital to further strengthen Bonnier's business development within digital media. "The merger with R&D means that Bonnier Digital will have the resources to invest in the cutting-edge research needed for further development," says Casten Almqvist, CEO for Bonnier Digital.

Sara Öhrvall was recruited to Bonnier in 2008 with a clear mandate for change.

Digital changes and successes in the magazine world have meant a change for Sara Öhrvall, head of Bonnier R&D at Bonnier AB in Stockholm. She will be leaving Stockholm behind temporarily to run a new R&D department for Bonnier Corporation in the U.S., based at Bonnier's San Francisco office.

Goldfish best web idea

About 60 startups participated in 24 Hour Business Camp at Yasuragi Hasseludden in Stockholm. In the fierce competition, Goldfish CRM won Bonnier's newly instituted awards for best business model.

24hbc is a participant-driven conference where entrepreneurs from all over Sweden come together to create and launch a web business in 24 hours. At the afterparty in Stockholm, Bonnier, who also co-sponsored the event, handed out a prize for best business model.

Bonnier R&D hits San Francisco

Bonnier R&D is heading west. Together with Bonnier Corporation, a new project is underway with the goal of finding new digital media products. Sara Öhrvall, Director of Bonnier R&D, tells us more.

Pontus Schultz to Bonnier R&D

Pontus Schultz has been appointed Head of Business Development at Bonnier R&D. Until September, he was working as editor-in-chief of Veckans Affärer and will now continue as publisher of Veckans Affärer and Privata Affärer while sitting on the Board of Directors for Bonnier Magazines.

Why did you take this job?

"I've devoted my entire career to analyzing business development strategies and trends at the crossroads of media, technology and society. So it's impossible for me to turn down an opportunity like this, where I'll have the chance to not only analyze but to actually lead projects based on my conclusions. It's the perfect job for me. The things that Sara Öhrvall and the R&D team are creating seem extremely contemporary, innovative and fun.

Bonnier R&D sponsors Sweden Social Web Camp

One weekend in late August, 200 of the most active players on Sweden's Internet scene gathered on an island off the southeast coast of Sweden to discuss social media on the Web. The event, Sweden Social Web Camp, was sponsored in part by Bonnier R&D.

Tomas Wennström, the Internet entrepreneur behind the podcast and blog whatsnext.com, along with the sites vackertvader.se and hittarecept.se, came up with the idea for the Camp.
