New Editor-in-Chief for Delovoy Peterburg

Maxim Vasjukov to helm Russian business daily Delovoy Peterburg.

St. Petersburg-based business daily Peterburg Delovoy announced yesterday the appointment of Maxim Vasjukov as editor-in-chief.

The big challenge for Vasjukov will be mainting and increasing the circulation, which currently stands at 20,400. "We need to pay more attention to the issues where we are really strong, like news about companies and stories about entrepreneurs in St. Petersburg," says Vasjukov. "We need to widen the circle of our news makers and lift the professionalism of our journalists.

Popular Russian lifestyle magazine Women's Secrets has been acquired by Bonnier Publications Russia.

Bonnier Publications Russia announced today it has acquired the magazine Women's Secrets from Creative Media. Launched in 1997, the monthly magazine has a circulation of 130,000 and according to TNS Gallup Media, the audience for each issue is over 1 million readers, putting Women's Secrets in the leading group of popular women's magazines.

Bonnier Publications in Russia has launched a website with a whole new concept for the magazine publisher: Bonimani.ru. Bonnier Publications puts out food title Gastronom and sister magazine gardening title Sadovnik.

The new site features a wide range of special deals on everything from restaurants, spas and beauty treatments, to gadgets and tools, to leisure activities. "The idea of the site is to help people save money," says Nadezhda Lyzhnikova, public relations manager.

Russian food magazine Gastronom has made magazine history: It's the first magazine to break the top ten list of applications at Apple's App Store in Russia. The iPad version of the magazine, which was launched on Jan. 31, was downloaded 4, 800 times in the first five days.

Bonnier Publications Increases Profits 50 percent

The Nordic magazine publisher had profits of DKK 220 million in 2010.

Bonnier Publications ended 2010 with an operating profit (EBITA) of DKK 220 million. This result is created based on a turnover of DKK 1.68 billion, giving a contribution margin of 13 percent. In 2009, operating profits (EBITA) were DKK 144 million, meaning an increase of 53 percent.

Headquartered in Copenhagen, Bonnier Publications is Scandinavia's largest magazine publisher. The Group has publications and activities in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia and the Netherlands.

Magazines are on the upswing again. At least for Bonnier International Magazines, which premiered four new editions this fall - Science Illustrated in Estonia on Oct. 26 and in Russia on Sept. 26, History Illustrated in Germany on Oct. 13 and Popular Science in Sweden on Nov. 2.
