When Parenting magazine wanted to come up with a way to help moms and dads get their kids excited about science, technology and the environment, they took a very hands-on approach: the Virtual Science Fair. The contest encourages kids to share their love of science by submitting a photo or video of a science experiment they completed, along with step-by-step instructions for the experiment.

Readers who travel with magazines - the trend for magazine readers to take group trips arranged by the magazine continues to be a hot trend. At Sweden's Bonnier Tidskrifter, the various magazines will have some 25-30 trips set up for their readers. And one of the biggest destinations is China.

SFVT to NBC Sports Network

Sport Fishing Television (SFTV), a Bonnier Corporation production in which editors from Bonnier's sport fishing magazines travel the globe fishing some of the world's greatest angling hot spots, has a new TV home this year: the NBC Sports Network.

The new network from NBC Sports launched the first of the year, replacing the Versus Network. The 24-hour sports mega-network backed by NBC should provide a great platform as the new home for SFTV. The show, now in its 11th season, airs every Saturday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time.

When Historie magazine decided to put out a book series for its readers, the editorial staff went all out. "We spent millions of kroner and a year of development to launch a series that's in a class by itself both in design and format," says Sebastian Relster, editor-in-chief of the magazine at Bonnier Publications in Denmark.

Folio Awards to Bonnier Corporation

Saveur wins big in Folio's Ozzie and Eddie awards.

Bonnier took home eight Folio awards for 2011‚ with Saveur winning four and Working Mother one gold; Field & Stream took two silver awards TransWorld SNOWboarding a bronze picking up an award each.

Bonnier Corporation Adds UFC Magazine to Stable

Starting late December, Bonnier Corporation will be the publisher of UFC Magazine.

Bonnier Corporation and the Ultimate Fighting Championship have announced an agreement for Bonnier to begin producing the mixed martial arts organization's official magazine. Hitting newsstands Dec. 27, the first issue of UFC Magazine published by Bonnier will appear. Current Editor-in-Chief Seth Kelly and Publisher Larry Menkes will continue in their positions.

Bonnier tapped Kelly, the editor who launched UFC Magazine for American Media, to return to his role as editor-in-chief.

Damernas Värld and Adamo Big Winners

Three prizes go to Bonnier Tidskrifter.

At the big Swedish magazine event Tidskriftsgalan, Bonnier Tidskrifter struck gold, with Damernas Värld winning Mass Market Magazine of the Year and DV Mode winning One Shot of the Year. Amelia Adamo also won the newly established grand prize, Sveriges Tidskrifters Stora Pris.

Bonnier Corp. No. 1 in Ad Gains

According to data from Magazine Radar, Bonnier Corporation leads the ad page gains in the U.S. for the first nine months of 2011 with a 6 percent increase from the same period in 2010. After leading through the first and second quarters of the year, Bonnier sustained its hot streak in the race among the major publishers for advertising gains for 2011, Folio reported last week.
