Students at Kuban State University are learning journalism from one of the best in the business: editor-in-chief of Delovaya Gazeta Yug Oleg Shiryaev. The university is in Krasnodar in southern Russia.

"It's really cool that the modern standards of journalism used in the Bonnier Group are becoming basic knowledge for journalism students at Kuban University," says Shiryaev. "The current level of professionalism among reporters and editors in southern Russia is far from our standards.

Today, May 3, we celebrate and remember the importance of press freedom and free speech on World Press Freedom Day.

In 1993, the United Nations declared May 3 as World Press Freedom Day. Since then, the day has been celebrated worldwide, with different countries hosting the main celebrations - this year for the first time they are being celebrated in the U.S.

Our Russian GROW ambassador Lisa becomes a tv star in Finland!

The last weeks have brought new unexpected pleasure to my life. For more than 2 weeks I'm one of the hosts of the channel on which I work as a GROW program participant.

The whole story begun as a joke. During our corporate trip to Suomenlinna, in a restaurant with a glass of wine I told my colleagues about my working experience and mentioned the work as a host on St. Petersburg's MTV channel. Then my colleagues just for fun said: "Maybe you should make your own Russian speaking show on our channel?" Supporting the tone of the conversation I answered: "Sure, why not?"

A Russian GROW ambassador has arrived in MTV3.

The first week of my stay in Finland has passed!

There are lots of impressions already. The first that has amazed me was an apartment which was rented for me by organizers of the GROW program. I most likely could have managed a half of this apartment for it is so huge for such a petit girl, as I am: 65 sq. m. In this apartment I have everything that can be necessary for living except for perhaps a teapot.
