I have been fortunate to be able to come to work in Bonnier Corporation at Winter Park. This has been a great chance for me to learn new things and experience a different working culture. Thanks to Bonnier who made it possible for me this time. 20 years ago, Rotary Club made it possible for me to spend a year in high school at Pecatonica, Illinois and get a glimpse of American teenagers' lives. That was a lifetime experience as well.

This opportunity to work for three months for another company inside Bonnier Group has proven to be very important, especially as an opportunity to have some time off from my daily routines and look back and evaluate how I'll see everything. Too often, you get attached to one way of seeing things and can't see outside the box anymore.  But GROW has also proven to be valuable in fully understanding the operations of Bonnier and its numerous highly-valued brands.

One of the reasons that got me interested in GROW was that I see a clear analogy between consumer paid online service like Keventajat and a special-interest magazines. We sell different lengths of memberships, magazines sells different lengths of subscriptions. The content is highly targeted and connects people to their passions in the form of articles, tools, discussion forums, video clips, etc.

Gradually, companies are starting to publish Corporate Responsibility Reports to open up about their stake in sustainable development and what they are doing to reduce the impact on environment. Bonnier is no exception. It seem that more environmental issues are considered all around the group; for example Audrey Bay, a GROW participant in Sweden, tells in her blog that she got involved in an environmental project to evaluate the impact of shipping of the books.

This week has been raining really hard, stormy weather and first tornado alert while I have been here. When I decided to give up and buy an umbrella yesterday after work, we got a clear sky. So, buying the umbrella worked for a day but today it looks like I can put it to use again.

Time has gone by really fast. I have getting myself familiarized with direct mail and how things are organized in general.

My name is Päivi Koskinen, and I'm a product manager for a Finnish health & wellness online service, Keventajat.  I have been working with Keventajat since the beginning of 2006, building up the service, creating a new brand and getting it positioned and established with the fairly new and growing market in Finland.
