Children's and young adult book publisher Bonnier Carlsen started working with Ungdomar.se this year. At the portal, author Lina Forss has been blogging and Katerina Janouch has been answering questions about love and sex, among other things.

"When you work with children's and young adult books you need to be creative to find new ways of reaching readers," says Tove Kullenberg, information and public relations manager at Bonnier Carlsen. "Today most young people are on the net, and ungdomar.se is one of the biggest portals for youth ages 14-25."

The next project Bonnier Carlsen is doing with the site is now underway: a horror story contest for teens and young adults up to age 24. The winner will get writing coaching from horror novelist Magnus Nordin and publisher Lotta Bergqvist. The story also will be published by Bonniercarlsen.se and Ungdomar.se.

"Magnus Nordin is a popular novelist for thrillers, and of course we want to broaden the reach of his books even more," says Kullenberg. "With the contest we can reach young people interested in reading and writing, an important group for us. Plus we can show, by including publisher Lotta Bergqvist, our book expertise here are Bonnier Carlsen. It's nice to be able to offer that to more people."

The contest will continue until Nov. 30. A jury with members from Ungdomar.se and Bonnier Carlsen will choose the five finalists from among the stories submitted, then Nordin and Bergqvist will pick the winner from among those. The winner will be announced on Dec. 12. (Read more here, in Swedish.)
