Food blogs have revolutionized how people cook and share recipes. It was an easy leap, then, for Bonnier Corp's SAVEUR.com to roll out their Best Food Blog Awards, now in its second year, to honor the blogs that get people cooking, baking, photographing and sharing.

"SAVEUR has long been a champion of food blogs," says site director Ganda Suthivarakom. "We love how they've leveled the playing field, giving the home cook the power to share recipes with an audience. It's really about shining a light on the incredible effort and love bloggers pour into their work."

Last year's awards were hugely successful for SAVEUR.com, and this year's are shaping up to be no different: An astonishing 45,000 nominations were received in 17 categories, including Best Food Photography, Best Baking and Desserts Blog, Best Regional Cuisine Blog.

The SAVEUR.com team painstakingly reviewed each nomination, and narrowed them down to six finalists in each category. SAVEUR.com users then voted for their favorites. "It was hard to choose six per category," says Ganda. "There are so many that deserve recognition."

But the best part, for the editors and readers, was clear, says Ganda: "What was wonderful was to discover so many food blogs that we hadn't heard of through the process. People are really excited to discover blogs they'd never heard of. I hope, in the end, that we bring more readers to all the blogs we feature."

Voting for the 2011 Best Food Blog Awards ends May 12 (vote here), and on May 17, the winners will be announced.
