Bonnier Corporation in the U.S. has begun a leadership course designed after Bonnier Sweden's Bonnier Media University. "The ongoing development of management team - from the lower and middle levels to the top executives - is one of the strongest beliefs, and biggest priorities, at Bonnier Corporation," says Terry Snow, CEO.
Snow initiated the program in part to the overwhelming requests for more educational seminars from staff. The three-day leadership course uses a process that mixes lectures and discussions, group work and exercises.
"This program is specifically designed to give managers tools to help meet the needs of our fast-changing industry," says Snow.
Beginning with the Winter Park and New York offices, nearly 200 employees are taking the course in groups of 20 or so. Elisabeth Palombo, deputy executive director at Bonnier Media University, has been working in the U.S. for the past year and is teaching the course.
"One of the most strategically important tasks for media companies today is to make sure that the leaders can effectively guide the organizations through the transition to the digital media. At the same time, they have the challenge to nurture and implement all the great ideas of business growth generated by their employees. This program gives them some of those tools," said Palombo.
