On July 18, Chris Cote served as Master of Ceremonies for a gala for the PacSun Pipeline To A Cure campaign benefiting the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. The campaign hopes to raise awareness of the bond between surfing and cystic fibrosis. Australian medical research showed that young cystic fibrosis patients who surf had healthier lungs.
Writing on TransWorld SURF's site, Chris said, "It was an amazing opportunity to be involved with Pipeline To A Cure in the first place, but to sit there and listen to cystic fibrosis patient Emily Haager speak was truly a life-changing experience. Her strength and courage inspired me and I know now that I will always be involved with this organization."
Surf legends Laird Hamilton and Dave Kalama co-hosted the event, while celebrities like Gabrielle Reece and Tia Carrere made appearances on the red carpet.
