The new corporate website is built on the open source platform Drupal.
"We chose the system in order to be able to develop our sites more dynamically. With Drupal as the basic platform, our focus will be on development instead of technical limitations. It also gives our editors a tool to simplify their daily work, making them more agile. This is important for a fast-growing media channel like the Web," explains Lars.
The launch is part of a larger project involving dozens of Bonnier Publications websites. Beginning in 2008, when Bo Bedre renewed its site, work has continued with the goal of relaunching the remaining magazines' websites in Drupal.
And it's no small move. Since most of the company's magazines are published in several countries — iForm, for instance, is published in Swedish, Norwegian, Danish and Finnish — the total will be no less than 57 sites for all of the different titles. Those with the most versions are Science Illustrated, National Geographic Magazine and Historie, which have migrated at a record pace: 13 new sites in 13 weeks.
"The idea is that all of the publications will be able to use the same 'toolbox' to further develop their sites, so that the same function doesn't need to be developed over and over again. This will make ongoing development easier and more cost-efficient," says Lars.
