Bonnier Publications Launches Populär Vetenskap

The first issue of Swedish Populär Vetenskap - Popular Science - hits the newsstands Nov. 2.

The newest magazine from Bonnier Publications International, Populär Vetenskap, is a cooperation between Illustrerad Vetenskap (Science Illustrated) - the most read magazine in the Nordic countries - and the American Popular Science, which reaches some 7 million readers.

"With these two big supporting players, we have access to the market's strongest resources," says Klays Nygaard, editor-in-chief for Populär Vetenskap. "So we can promise a magazine that stands out with well-written articles and fantastic photos and illustrations. We will focus on technology, science and gadgets with a clear news section and pages where we test cameras or laptops, for example."

With Populär Vetenskap, Bonnier Publications International is taking yet another step towards meeting the demands for tomorrow's magazines.

"The market is becoming increasingly niched, and there's a need for new professional magazines that can meet future consumers' demands and expectations," says Jens Henneberg, vice president at Bonnier Publications. "With Populär Vetenskap, we are focusing more clearly and in greater depth on technology and the future than our competitors."

In the first issue, you can read about unmanned warplanes, robots that will help the elderly and Swedes who have gotten sick from using cell phones and other electronic equipment. Plus the latest space research, cars of the future and a look at the world's craziest buildings.

The magazine will be distributed to retailers throughout Sweden via Interpress. It will be published six times a year.
