Norway's most prestigious book award, the Brage Prize, was given out on Nov. 24 and among the five winners were three authors from Cappelen Damm. Longtime Cappelen Damm author Kolbein Falkeid won an honorary award for his lifetime's work - Falkeid has been with Cappelen since his debut in 1962. In the category of best children's or young adult book of the year, Inga Sætre for her book Fallteknikk; also nominated was Sverre Knudsen for Arons Maskin. In the category of best non-fiction for the year, Simen Ekern won for his book Rome; also nominated was Erika Fatland for her book Engelbyen, historier fra Beslan. Carl Emil Vogt's biography Fridtjof Nansen was also nominated in the open category.
"It's wonderful when a publisher's authors win the Brage Prize," says Cappelen Damm publisher Karin Mundal. "When a publisher wins in three of five possible categories, you know you've done a really good job you can be proud of."
