On May 6, Norwegian book publisher Cappelen Damm launched an ambitious digital initiative: the blog site forlagsliv.no. With over 25 people from different parts of Cappelen Damm contributing, the site will also include a news blog.

"Cappelen Damm should be an open publishing house, where writers can meet their readers," says Knut Gørvell, development manager and one of the editorial board members for the site, along with sales and marketing director Birgit Christensen and information manager Ingunn Lindborg, among others. "We already have the Editors' Corner every Thursday (read more here), a book store and a café on the ground floor of the building. Now with forlagsliv.no readers have a whole new possibility of taking part in what happens at Cappelen Damm."

Anette S. Garpestad, who is also known as @bokdama and blogs under the name Bokdama@work, is the editor in charge of forlagsliv.no.

"The idea is that it should be a portal, with both news and personal blogs," says Garpestad. "We'll have regular information on what's happening at the company, new releases, author events and other news. The personal blogs will of course vary when it comes to content, but the mix will give a nice sneak peek into what we work with at Cappelen Damm."

Some of the authors blogging already at the site are Ingvar Ambjørnsen, Elin Riise, Ellisiv Lindkvist and Brynjulf Jung Tjønn.
