On August 24, 2009, finance assistant Christina Lindegren will celebrate 45 years of working for Bonnier. She started her career in the Dagens Nyheter finance department just two weeks shy of her 17th birthday.
"My dad worked at DN and I was told that they were looking for people. I had studied finance in school and was looking for a job, and so I got a start in the finance department there. Everything was completely new to me, it was nothing like school," says Christina.
The youngest person there, she got to learn the job by observing those who had worked there for a while. At the time, accounts were managed with paper cards with magnetic strips, which were put into an accounting machine.
"I remember recording machines, they were absolutely enormous. And many of us shared the same phone line connection," says Christina.
Christina has seen much change since that summer. She has lived through ups and downs, mergers and divestments. From DN's skyscraper, she moved to the Bonnier Torsgatan tower, and now she works at the corporate headquarters on Kungsgatan, where the finance department is today. These days, Christina is working with customer and supplier invoices, which are all managed with computers.
"The best part of the job is when everything runs well, when it works as it should. It got much easier once computers came. Before that, it was much more cumbersome," says Christina.
Why did she decide to stay with the company for 45 years? "It is because I have enjoyed it here. I have gotten to do many different things over the years. And I have had many lovely colleagues!"
