Jorid Aldrin: Unexpected meeting at the laundromat

Our Swedish GROW ambassador Jorid finds out that it is the unexpected meetings that makes traveling alone extra exciting.

One of the best things when you are traveling all by yourself or if you are living in a new country is that you meet new people that you never would have meet if you had been travelling with friends or family.

During my very first week in Denmark, I tried out the laundromat across the street from my apartment. The whole laundromat thing is new to me, because in Sweden everyone have their own washing machine or a laundry room in the basement of their apartment building that can be used only by the residents.

While I was standing there in the laundromat, a bit confused while I was trying to figure out how it all worked, I realized it was better to ask for some advise than take the risk to shrink all my clothes.

So I asked the only other person who was in the laundromat, which turned out to be a really friendly and helpful Danish girl called Louise. We ended up talking about everything from problems with laundromats to how it is to move to a new country and get used to all new things like language, culture, living standards and so on. By now we have met up a couple of times, and she has showed me some really nice wine bars in Vesterbro. This is the really good thing about traveling alone, you find new friends in the most unexpected ways and places.

During the past weeks, I've been introduced to Gemius Explore, a web analytic tool with a panel built database that updates once a month, which is one of the standard analytic tools used at Bonnier Publications.  Besides from that, work has been pretty much the same during the last month, there are several frequent analysis that I do on a regular weekly basis and some monthly.

I just realized that I only have month left of my GROW period, it's crazy how fast time passes by!
