Malin in Balmain

Our GROW blogger Malin is not used to lefthand driving.

I've come to realize the traffic lights are not very efficient here in Sydney. You have to wait for everybodys turn to go, one lane at the time. Theres no co-ordination really. I haven't let myself jaywalk as I am still not used to the cars driving on the lefthand side and not sure from which direction they might hit me. The only thing that is fast is the green light for the pedestrians. I get a third of the way across the road and then it goes red.

Bearing this in mind, I had a lot of extratime as I was going to take the ferry to a colleagues place in East place Balmain. I made sure I was down at the ferry stop at McMahons Point well in time. Although this particular day they had reconstruction going on and the ferry wasnt coming to this stop. My hope was to get the ferry from Milsons point instead. As I was about 100 meters from the stop, and running, I saw the ferry had just left the dock - teasing me. My last chance to get to Balmain was to take the train in to Town Hall and from there catch a bus. I missed the first bus by a minute and the second because the buses only take prepaid tickets. Finally on the third bus I was on my way to Balmain.

Being that late I didn't get to see much of Balmain before a friend picked us up to take us to the Swans v. Port Adelaide game (AFL Australian football League) at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Moore Park. It is a fun and quick game and lots of goals (Mostly for the Swans, the Sydney team). Poor Adelaide...
