Meet Jutta Pasanen

"I have always dreamed of working abroad and this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I had to catch," says Jutta Pasanen. Catch it she did, moving from Helsinki to New York City as a GROW participant. At MTV Media in Finland, Pasanen had a broad range of responsibilities. "My title is iProducer and I take care of interactive functions, such as voting and viewer games, in MTV3's prime time TV shows. I also deal with mobile charity lottery and fundraising in charity concerts and TV shows that are presented on the channel. In addition, I run the online dating service at mtv3.fi."

In New York, Pasanen, 28, continues to work online, but she's switched from TV to magazines, working as an online producer at Saveur.com and Parenting.com. "It is interesting to see the publishing business, as I come from broadcast media," she says.

Pasanen finds the new working culture exciting and appreciates her "great coworkers." The atmosphere is easy-going, she says, although everyone works hard. And she's gotten a new perspective on her job in Finland. "I've learned a lot how to run a content-based website, as my dating service is more user generated, and I've had new ideas how to commercialize the website and how to benefit from newsletters," she says.

Her best memory so far?

"The time spent with my coworkers," she says. "But I can't complain about all the food tasting I had from Saveur's kitchen."
