MTV Media has acquired the business operations of Eat.fi, a Finnish online service enabling users to search for restaurant services. Eat.fi currently has 50,000 visitors a week and more than 40,000 downloads of the mobile app. Some 9,000 restaurants participate in the service.
"We are going to combine the popular mtv3.fi/makuja recipe service, which provides nearly 8,000 food recipes, with the ingenious concept of Eat.fi," says Henrik Laine, vice president, Internet and consumer businesses at MTV Media. "Our goal is to build a leading website in Finland where people can obtain all the information they want on food and restaurants."
Eat.fi provides users with the latest technology and a versatile way of finding places to eat. The community of service users creates content for the site, for example by giving reviews on restaurants. The service currently contains more than 32,000 reviews. Eat.fi offers its member restaurants easy-to-use tools to help them keep their information up to date, says Laine.
Eat.fi is already currently accessible throughout Finland. The aim is to further improve the site's services and take advantage of MTV Media's own strong regional organization, according to Laine.
The service provides, among other information, details on the opening hours of restaurants and numerous restaurant reviews submitted by users. "With nearly 8,000 recipes in our recipe service and the best food ideas of MTV's star chefs, the hugely popular food blogs, taste tests, news and innovations from the food world added to the package, you will have an unmatched service for people interested in food," says Laine. MTV3.fi's food site has approximately 150,000 visitors a week.
