New Editor-in-Chief for Delovoy Peterburg

Maxim Vasjukov to helm Russian business daily Delovoy Peterburg.

St. Petersburg-based business daily Peterburg Delovoy announced yesterday the appointment of Maxim Vasjukov as editor-in-chief.

The big challenge for Vasjukov will be mainting and increasing the circulation, which currently stands at 20,400. "We need to pay more attention to the issues where we are really strong, like news about companies and stories about entrepreneurs in St. Petersburg," says Vasjukov. "We need to widen the circle of our news makers and lift the professionalism of our journalists. I'm sure the newspaper as an information channel will last a very long time, at least my lifetime. But newspapers have to change the same way the wishes and needs of our readers are changing. My biggest challenge as editor-in-chief will be developing of newspaper's content as well as preserving and increasing of our newspaper's audience in the era of the Internet."

Vasjukov has worked at the paper since 2004; in 2008 he began as news editor, and last couple of months he has fulfilled the duties of editor-in-chief temporarily. And he looks forward to taking on the difficult tasks ahead. "I'm most looking forward to the moment when I can get maximal pleasure from our product's  quality," he says. "The moment when it becomes really perfect. Maybe this moment never comes, but it doesn't deprive me of  hope."
