New Magazines for the iPad on the Mag+ Platform

Popular Photography, Sound & Vision, Islands and TransWorld SKATEboarding will join Popular Science with Mag+ versions available beginning this summer.

Capitalizing on the iPad's tech-savvy early adopters, Bonnier Corporation has announced that the next two magazines to launch on the Mag+ platform in the U.S. will be Popular Photography, with its July issue, and Sound + Vision, with its June/July/August issue. Then, with the September issues, Mag+ will come to TransWorld SKATEboarding and Islands. Additional titles are expected to launch this fall.

The first magazine on the Mag+ platform, Popular Science+, will offer subscriptions beginning in early June. All future magazines from Bonnier debuting on Mag+ will also offer subscription functionality. In addition, one of the features most requested by readers will be added - in-app notifications for new issues.

Apple continues to highlight Popular Science+ as the leader of the digital magazines on the iPad, recently adding it to a handful of featured apps on apple.com - check it out here.

The Mag+ development team includes Mike Haney, former executive editor at Popular Science, who has joined full time as deputy director of R&D under Sara Öhrvall, who heads the project as director of R&D. Sam Syed will serve as Mag+ development creative director in addition to continuing his duties as creative director for Bonnier's technology titles. The team will also soon add a full-time project manager and a technology director.
