Norwegian Litteraturklubben Launches Online

Cappelen Damm's Litteraturklubben Epp, part of the Tanum book club family in Norway, makes the switch online with a new partner, daily newspaper Dagbladet and a new model.

Norwegian book club Litteraturklubben Epp was started in 2008, when the publishers Cappelen and Damm merged and created a new joint book club family, Tanum. As a member of the Tanum family, Epp focused on Norwegian and translated high-quality literature. New writers and daring books have been central to what the club offers from the onset.

Litteraturklubben Epp has now undergone a change - the club will be online with a new shorter name: Litteraturklubben - the Literature Club. The simpler Litteraturklubben concept is new for the Norwegian market, with members actively ordering the books they want rather than cancelling if they don't want the book of the month. Benefits of the new model include a faster delivery time.

Litteraturklubben will be operated jointly by Tanum and Norwegian daily newspaper Dagbladet, in conjunction with Cappelen Damm and its partners. The partnership is part of Dagbladet's new focus on books online. Litteraturklubben's website will also be accessible via Dagbladet.no, which includes other relevant book information and will provide an even wider audience for the club.

The profile of Litteraturklubben will continue to follow that of Epp, albeit with a greater focus on non-fiction. Susanne Hedemann Hiorth will continue as club editor, and the book selection will remain similar. The previous member magazine will be replaced by an e-mail and a new updated web with in-depth information about the books.
