R&D Summary - week 3

This is what Bonnier R&D's been up to this week.

Beautiful Birgitta Piper

Long lost Alexander Jamal is back from his paternal leave.  He is currently deeply involved in some very interesting projects deriving from the Mag+-concept. He has also been busy meeting entrepreneurs, some of which had some very interesting proposals.

Today Emil headed the first ever "R&D think tank", a great internal forum for launching ideas that we normally do not have time to discuss. In this weeks meeting, we discussed new ways of telling stories in a digital environment. Storybird is one example. Further, we covered topics such as podcasts (should Bonnier have their own), "Good enough", and infographics.

Emil has also had a interaction design workshop with job search engine Workey, as well as  listened to and analyzed www.soundcloud.com/four-tet/there-is-love-in-you in order to understand the role of user comments in media and stories.

In addition,  Emil has become addicted to devouring Mexican food at local lunch restaurant La Neta.

Paulina is still working on realizing Bonnier Lab/Incubator and had the pleasure of going on a fabulous exclusive guided tour in the old and somewhat mysterious Seaman's Church in Stockholm. Thanks, Jan Åman (curator and  urban activist specializing in the meeting between contemporary art and urban development) for making the tour possible!

Paulina and Alex also had the pleasure of meeting with the gorgeous and immensely smart entrepreneur couple Jyri and Ulla-Maaria Engeström, founders of www.thinglink.org.

Björn and Pontus both attended the annual Editors Day at Bonnier Tidskrifter. Björn was introduced as Birgitta Piper's toyboy(sic!) and presented three concrete ways for editors to modernize their work methods.

He has also been busy planning the big R&D trip to San Francisco next week.

Jonas is currently involved in gathering trends, reports and other background material for Bonnier's anual trend report - the Media Map. Among other things he has conducted telephone interviews with key individuals in the company.

Jonas has also assembled a vast amount of tablet-related news from this year's CES in Las Vegas.

Sara is in San Francisco working intensely with our collaborative partners Kicker and Berg on further development of the Mag+-concept.
