Record-breaking Week for ExpressenTV

ExpressenTV had a total of 527,979 unique visitors last week.

The second week of Nov. 2010 set a new record for ExpressenTV, with nearly 530,000 unique site visitors for the week. It was the highest number of visitors the site has had.

According to Anna Rastner, managing editor for ExpressenTV, it was due to a combination of a lot of heavy-hitting news, including news that attracted interest from outside Sweden.

"It was a fantastic news week that began with the jailing of a sniper in Malmö," says Rastner. "Then there was a snowstorm and weather videos are always popular. Then we had the king's affair with Camilla Henemark, and the turbulance with the Social Democrats during the entire week. There we've been the leaders in terms of reporting. We were also first to reveal that Social Democrat Party Leader Mona Sahlin had resigned."

Several sites outside Sweden linked to some of the clips, which also brought in many new unique visitors.

"What's interesting is to compare with our previous site visit record with just over 500,000 unique visitors - that was a clip about Michael Jackson and if he might still be alive, but this time it was all news," says Rastner.

For expressen.se it was also the nearly the best ever in terms of visits, second only to the 2010 Swedish election week this past September.
