A week ago, the SDS Group launched Sweden's newest site for food lovers: Hamtmat.se, for ordering takeout food delivery via the web. Site visitors type in their postal codes and they get a list of restaurants offering takeout delivery. They can then order and pay via the site, and the food will be delivered to their doorsteps.
The service is also available as an iPhone application. If you want to order a pizza or Thai food, for example, you can do it simply with your fingers. Via GPS, the phone knows where you are an shows restaurants in the vicinity - or you can search using your postal code - and then order and pay via your phone just as on the website.
"We are the first in Sweden with this kind of mobile service," says Tommy K. Andersson, business developer at the SDS Group and the man behind the project. "Hamtmat.se give restaurants new customers and bigger profits. The SDS Group has strong marketing power in its own channels and in conjunction with other Bonnier companies, participating restaurants can really benefit."
The service was developed in cooperation with the Dutch company Takeaway.com which has operations in ten countries.
