How y'all doing back home?
This is my third week here in Orlando, Florida at Bonnier Marine Group. Bonnier is getting pretty tired of hearing about Florida's beautiful beaches, sun, beer, cool people and other great stuff that makes life here such an awesome time. I got orders of writing about what work I actually do here at Bonnier. ;)
As I told y'all (that's how we talk down here in the south) earlier, Jamie, Matt and Ken that I work with, got me started right away with editing Tube tests for Boating Life magazine. Tubes are these big tires that you ride behind a boat. They come in a bunch of different shapes and colors.
At home I use AVID editing systems, here I had to crash course myself into learning Final Cut Pro. It took me a while to remap some hotkeys and finding the features that I'm used to, but being a technical genius really helps so it didn't take long be up and running. :)
I've done 19 different one-minute videos that will be featured on Boating Life's webpage. They are running the feature in their latest magazine and readers can go to Web site and have a look at the tubes in action.
Right now it's kind of hard to find the videos on the magazine's web page, maybe that's something they can think about having a look at. For me it's a big + to have a video feature on the first page when you land on a whole new web page. Right now it's really hard to find your way around the sites.
Other than that, I've done a new intro animation for Florida Travel and Life. I've also fixed some logos and other small revisions on other videos. Hopefully, I get to go out shoot some video as well.
The office here in Winter Park is a bit different from home. Here I'm in a room with my three colleagues, which is kind of nice; we have a good thing going in here, a lot of laughs, music and fun stuff. The other parts of the office are made up of cubicles which are not common at all at home in Sweden. I'm used to being in an open office space or totally alone locked in a dark editing suite.
Well I'm really getting settled in here. Just bought a car for $1,000 to get around. Compared to renting one during the period I'm here, it's much cheaper. If someone from the next GROW group that will come to Orlando wants to buy it, feel free to contact me on jonas.westin@tv4.se.
This weekend is Memorial Day and I'm off to Miami and Key West the whole weekend to have some fun. See y'all soon again.
