Sydsvenskan+ Wins Scandinavian SND Prize

The Scandinavian branch of the Society for News Design, SNDS, honors the iPad newspaper Sydsvenskan+ and other SDS websites.

On May 12, prizes will be given out in the Scandinavian branch of the Society for News Design, SNDS, which honors newspaper design. The winners have already been announced, just not which medals they will get. So the iPad newspaper Sydsvenskan+ could win a gold, not to mention sydsvenskan.se and trelleborgsallehanda.se.

"This is the first time we've gotten a prize for digial design," says Sydsvenskan's head of design, Benjamin Peetre. "It's a sign that we're doing something right. The nomination for best application for Sydsvenskan+ is also confirmation. We feel ourselves that we're far ahead of the global competition. We make a newspaper for the iPad that competes with the big U.S. newspapers apps when it comes to design and content."

Sydsvenskan will also win five prizes in the print category and fellow SDS newspaper Trelleborgs Allehanda will win four. The Swedish medical journal Dagens Medicin (Medicine today), also owned by Bonnier, has won as well in the Redesign category.
