New deal between TV4 Group and Samsung means TV4 Play on-demand services can be watched directly on viewers' TV sets.
The TV4 Group has joined Samsung in making its on-demand service TV4 Play available as an application in TV devices and Blu-ray players with Internet connection from Samsung. Those with TV4 Play's premium service will be able to watch shows whenever they want using Samsung's Smart TV devices.
"We're happy with our cooperation with Samsung," says Cecilia Beck-Friis, director of digital media for the TV4 Group. "Being able to provide TV4 Play Premium directly to consumers' TVs is completely in line with our strategy to make on-demand content more available on all platforms and give our viewiers more choice and flexibility."

I find it very unfortunate that we're talking premium accounts here. What's new? My feeling is - bring the base content to the people. Let TV4 PLAY premium provide extended content but do NOT ride on some latest-technology-baloney, claiming this delivery channel as unique. Go the usual path - freebies first then lock-in, i.e. let the average consumer (young and technically oriented in the case) warm up an adapt to the idea to use the processing capabilities of the TV instead of the laptop an arm-length away. Then once accustomed We realize that - "hey, this is simple. I need more content provided this way". Young people are unemployed, have very little funding but have massive amounts of time - they can fiddle around and pull out their clowd attached ASICS/cpu:s. Middle aged persons, c'est moi, are very reluctant to cash up 10 euro a month with NO a priory knowledge of provided value or quality, but YES, correctly, we're short of time and need the added flexibility. Never the less, let the consumer make the decision on which program (base/premium) to sign up for based on the content of the program not the way it is delivered. I wish you good luck with your effort, hower! Woleda
