Vampires on the Loose

Consumers are sucking it up in record numbers. Vampire romance that is, a global phenomenon that doesn't look to be slowing down anytime soon. From Stephenie Meyer's global hit series Twilight - both in its book and movie incarnations - to TV series such as First Blood, a love for all things vampire has been a big hit for publishers and producers. Here's a look at the latest vampire book series from a few of the Bonnier companies.

• The Twilight series has been a blowout success and top sellers in Germany in 2009, with Carlsen Verlag having sold up until now a total of 7 million copies of the seven books in the series. Can Bella find love with the vampiric object of her affection, Edward?
• Cappelen Damm has just released the first in the House of Night series in Norway, by mother-daughter team P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast. Can teenager Zoey Redbird gets "marked" deal with what it means to be a vampire?
• In the U.K., Templar Publishing's latest book in the popular Ology series is - you guessed it, Vampirology. Like the other books in the Ology series, the newest member of the family, by Nick Holt, uses clever printing techniques and illustrations to tell you everything you wanted to know about vampires. Due out in April.
• Finland's Tammi has released Vitsaus - Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan's thriller series The Strain. Watch out for vampires in the New York City subways! 
• Out in May from Månpocket in Sweden comes Charlaine Harris' popular Southern Vampire Mysteries - better known as the True Blood series after the TV program based on the novels. Mind-reading waitress Sookie Stackhouse faces evil - and her attraction to vampires - in Bon Temps, Louisiana.
